Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge

Designated as the first National Wildlife Refuge by
President Theodore Roosevelt, Pelican Island is located
adjacent to the southern end of the Archie Carr Wildlife
Refuge. This national historical landmark protects thousands
of pelicans and other wading birds.
